Principal’s Address

Spelling Bee

Today, some of our students had the opportunity to represent our school at the Interschool Spelling Bee. Our students have been working towards this across the last few weeks, having first competed in our school Spelling Bee. Our teams put in so much effort and had a great time competing in a new environment, which is outstanding! To cap it all off, our Year 3/4 team came third. Thank you to Mrs Lilly for organising this opportunity and for being there to support our teams.

Faction Carnival

Our Faction Carnival takes place tomorrow, and we can’t wait to welcome you into our school for what is always one of the highlights on the school calendar. Jumps and Throws commenced Tuesday, with a very small margin separating our three factions heading into the main day which should make for an exciting event. There is a bit of rain forecast, but not enough to stop proceedings, so pack a good jacket and maybe an umbrella! Good luck to all students tomorrow, I hope you have a great time.

P & C

I had the fantastic opportunity to attend the P & C Meeting on Tuesday night. One of the agenda items highlighted the amount of money the P & C has raised this Term. We are so lucky to have such a team of people working so hard to raise these funds – this money goes back into the school to improve the experience your child has at LGPS. The P & C work never ends – straight into catering the Faction Carnival tomorrow. Thanks again for all the work you do.

Behaviour Focus

What a great focus coming into our final week of term.

What’s happening in the Art room!

The very clever Year 1/2's in Miss Dellaca's room have put a lot of work into these 3D Constructions involving many elements involving Yayoi Kusama's artwork.

It started with stamping with corks the colour circle backgrounds to replicate the interactive Obliteration rooms that Yayoi designs in her travelling exhibitions. The children also drew a mini pumpkin and a mini flower.  They painted and decorated papers with dots before turning these into little pumpkins with a little help and some very handy split pins!

The little figurine was coloured and painted as well before being cut out, folded and stuck together.  These have been a lot of fun and looked bright and happy on Open Night.

Well done Room 2!

Upcycling at the Creative Club

Students in our Creative Club have been turning old t-shirts into no-sew tote bags — a fun, eco-friendly, and practical project!

It was truly inspiring to see the girls persevere, support one another, and show off their creativity while making these useful items. Great job to everyone involved!

SCHOOL PHOTOS

School Photos – Coming Soon!

It's that time of year again — school photos are just around the corner! They will be taking place in Term 4 on Monday, 21 October. Please check the attachments for important details on what to expect and how to place your orders.

We’re looking forward to capturing some great smiles!

AUSLAN

🍎 Auslan Comes to Life – Week 10! 🍌

During Week 10, our Auslan class is coming to life with fruit and yummy, healthy snacks! To help make this a fun and exciting day for everyone, we're asking students from Year 1 to Year 6 to please bring along a piece of fruit, as detailed below.

🥝 Your contribution will help us create a vibrant, hands-on learning experience as we explore Auslan in a fun and delicious way! Thank you for your support – we can’t wait to enjoy this fruity adventure together! 🍇

Sign of the week

It was great to have so many people visit the Auslan Room during Open Night. It was lovely to see students sharing their enthusiasm for Auslan with their families.

The sign of this week is VEGETABLE. This is communicated by fingerspelling “Veg”

The students and I are looking forward to Vegetable Day/s next Monday and Tuesday.

SPORTS CORNER

Athletics Carnival

Come and join us this Friday for our Faction Carnival as we cheer on our amazing students racing around the track and showing off their athletic skills!

☕ A coffee van will be on site, and our wonderful P&C will be serving up some scrumptious food throughout the day.

We can’t wait to see you all there! Best of luck to everyone competing – we can’t wait to cheer you on and celebrate your efforts and achievements on the day!

🕘 Event Schedule:

Please find the schedule attached below for your reference. Note: Times may vary slightly, so we recommend being ready ahead of time.

👋 Let’s also give a warm welcome to Mount Manypeaks Primary School, who will be joining us for the day’s festivities!

World Car Free Day!

World Car Free Day, on September 22nd, encourages people to explore alternatives to driving. The Your Move program in Western Australia supports this by promoting active travel options like walking, riding, and using public transport. For World Car Free Day, Your Move suggests activities such as leaving the car at home and trying public transport, walking, or cycling, and participating in community events focused on active travel.

Join us in walking, riding, or skating to school! Miss Upchurch will be outside the undercover area to celebrate World Car Free Day with some fruit organised by our amazing P&C.
