Interschool Maths
Yesterday, an amazing team of Year 5’s represented our school at the Have Sum Fun Interschool Maths Competition. The team had been training hard over the past few weeks to prepare for the big event. On the day, our large team split into two groups for the competition, with our students competing incredibly well to finish 4th and 5th place. Congratulations to our students for the effort and dedication you put into this event. A big thanks to Mrs Lilly, Ms Quartermaine and Mr Luscombe for supporting our teams.
Interschool Cross Country
In a big week for representing our school, today was the Interschool Cross Country event. Since our school cross country, our students have continued to work hard and prepare themselves for today, and that effort was incredibly evident through the high level of performance across all races. Well done to all students for representing our school with such pride and enthusiasm. Thank you to Mrs Upchurch for leading our team and organising this carnival, as well as Ms Quartermaine for her support on the day.
High Performing School Tour
On Monday and Tuesday this week, Mrs Lilly, Miss Parkinson, Miss Dellaca and I had the opportunity to visit Jolimont Primary School and Warriapendi Primary School. The purpose of our visit was to see high-performing schools in action, learn from their practices, and deepen our understanding of the systems and structures that support sustained student success. Throughout the visit, we observed a range of highly effective practices, including well-structured English blocks, strong pastoral care programs, and consistently high-quality instruction across year levels. It was valuable to see how both schools have developed clear teaching frameworks, established high expectations for learning and behaviour, and created supportive environments where every student is known, valued and challenged to achieve their best. We also had the opportunity to engage in professional discussions with school leaders and staff, gaining insights into their approaches to curriculum implementation, intervention, student wellbeing, and continuous school improvement. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to reflect on our own practices and gather ideas that will support our ongoing improvement journey. We look forward to sharing our learning with staff and exploring how these successful approaches can further strengthen outcomes for our students.
Playground
The playground has been temporarily closed while we complete some additional safety checks. We want to reassure families that no sharps have been found. This closure is purely precautionary, and the area will be reopened once we are confident it is safe for students to use.

P & C Meeting
Our next P & C meeting is taking place this Tuesday 23 June in the library at 7pm. New members are always welcome!

Student Services
This week's behaviour focus is Be Responsible – Report Unacceptable Behaviour. Being responsible means speaking up when something isn't right and helping to keep our school a safe and respectful place for everyone. Students are encouraged to tell a trusted adult if they see or experience behaviour that is unkind, unsafe, or against our school expectations. Reporting concerns is not "telling on someone" – it is a responsible way to support ourselves and others.

SCHOOL ASSEMBLY
Room 5 Take to stage - Are we there yet?
A big well done to Room 5 for their wonderful assembly performance based on the book “Are We There Yet?”!
The students did an incredible job bringing the story to life, confidently sharing their lines and showing so much bravery on stage. It was fantastic to see every student involved and contributing to such a fun and engaging performance.
Their show followed a family travelling around Australia, learning all about our unique creatures, different regions, and fascinating facts along the way — a great way to celebrate our country while entertaining the audience.
And of course, the performance was topped off with some very memorable dad jokes that had everyone smiling!

Well done Room 5, you should all be incredibly proud of the effort, teamwork, and enthusiasm you brought to the stage!
Honour Certificates
A big well done to all of our Honour Certificate recipients this week! Your outstanding effort, positive attitude, and commitment to your learning have not gone unnoticed. AUSSIE OF THE MONTH
A huge congratulations to Sage Solomon on receiving our Aussie of the Month award!
This award recognises students who are nominated and voted for by both peers and staff, celebrating those who consistently show kindness, positivity, and a willingness to support others.
Sage was recognised this month for showing great initiative by approaching an upset student and inviting them to join in play, making sure they felt included and not alone. This simple but meaningful act reflects true empathy and leadership.
Well done, Sage — we are so proud of the care and kindness you show to those around you!
HAVE SUM FUN MATHS
What a week it’s been, 12 intrepid year 5s took on the Great Southern Have Sum Fun competition. They came away with a 4th and a 5th place and a positive experience of challenging maths problems! They did our school proud with their team work, persistence, creativity and endeavour!!

SPORTS CORNER
Interschool Cross Country Carnival
Today, 37 Little Grove students represented our school at the Interschool Cross Country Carnival. Our Little Grove team arrived ready to give their best. They ran their hearts out, tackled the course with determination, and did it all with smiles on their faces.
What has been most impressive is the camaraderie shown throughout the day. Students have encouraged and supported one another, celebrated each other's achievements, and shown respect and encouragement to competitors from other schools as well.
We are incredibly proud of the sportsmanship, resilience and positive attitude displayed by our runners. Thank you for representing Little Grove Primary School so wonderfully.
Results and photos will follow in next week’s newsletter, we can’t wait!
Winter Walk to School Day

Get those gumboots (or wellies!) ready and dig out the beanies, scarves, and extra layers—it’s time for our Winter Walk to School Day!
On Monday 29 June, we’re encouraging all students and families to choose an active way to get to school—walk, ride, scoot or skate your way in, rain or shine.
Don’t stress about perfect outfits… in fact, there will be no judgement whatsoever on winter fashion choices! The goal is simple: rug up, get moving, and have a bit of fun on the way to school while supporting a fantastic initiative that promotes healthy, active travel.
So embrace the winter weather, dodge a puddle or two, and start the day with fresh air, smiles, and maybe a few questionable outfit combinations that we fully support. 😉 As an added bonus, I have heard the, Your move team will be there to greet you at the end with some snacks to keep you moving!
We can’t wait to see everyone out and about, moving together as a school community!
This week is also a revision week for students. We are doing lots of practise finger spelling. See if they can you finger spell the whole Auslan alphabet?
