Principal’s Address

Awards Assembly

We look forward to welcoming you to our final assembly next Friday 12 December at 8.45am. End of year awards will be handed out, our 2026 student leaders will be announced, and we will have a few Christmas songs ready to go to keep you entertained!

Year 6’s Orientations

Our Year 6’s have been busy over the past week attending orientation experiences at their chosen schools for 2026. In addition, they have been preparing their graduation song ready for their big farewell at the Year 6 Graduation on Tuesday 16 December, and then onto a special lunch to celebrate their eight years of Primary School. We wish them all the best.

Story Dogs

Thank you for the support shown yesterday for our Story Dog dress up day. Approximately $275 was raised to support this program, which aids reading in schools across the state.

Interschool Athletics

This week, we were given an update from the host school that there had been a miscalculation of scores at the Interschool Carnival last week. Unfortunately, that means we have now not won the Most Improved Shield. While this is a bit confusing and disappointing all rolled into one, I would again like to acknowledge the incredible effort of the team that represented LGPS last week.

P & C

Thank you again to our amazing P & C who have been hard at work for our community. Last week, students who attended the Interschool were directly impacted through a very generous donation towards bus costs. At the P & C Meeting on Tuesday they committed to funding towards some new initiatives for next year, which I will update you about shortly. Lastly, they held a end of year picnic on Wednesday where every student received an ice cream. This amazing group of volunteers continue to go out of their way to support this community. Often, it is the same few faces doing the work – please consider if there is something you can support with next year, it would be amazing to add to this vibrant team.

Student Services

Students are encouraged to approach each lesson with a positive mindset and to always try their best. Groovy Grover is reminding everyone that being open to learning helps us grow, take on challenges, and make the most of every learning opportunity.

Rewards Day

Well done to all of our students for receiving this term’s Groovy Grover reward target!
To celebrate, we’re hosting a super-fun Sports Afternoon next Friday, 12 December — and we can’t wait to see what exciting activities will be on offer! It’s going to be a fantastic way to recognise everyone’s hard work and commitment. Get ready for an afternoon of fun, teamwork, and celebration!

AUSLAN

This month’s Signing Star

Congratulations to our November Signing Star, Lyla!
Lyla has shown outstanding commitment and enthusiasm in her Auslan learning. Lyla’s initiative and positive attitude make her a wonderful role model for her peers. We are so proud of her dedication—keep shining, Lyla, and continue sharing your love of Auslan!

Sign of the week

We begin our festive journey this week with the sign Christmas. This sign is used in the song Ms Paterson is practising with students, “We Wish you a Merry Christmas”. I hope you all having a fabulously festive first week of December.

Interschool Athletics Carnival - Thursday 27th November

Last week, Little Grove Primary School sent 92 student representatives to the Interschool Athletics Carnival in Denmark. Every competitor gave their best while demonstrating pride, resilience, and good sportsmanship – a fantastic reflection of our school values. It was a joy to witness the passion of our students as they cheered on their peers and congratulated one another on their achievements throughout the day.

Junior Interschool Results

What a fantastic day for our junior students! They gave their all on the track and in team games, achieving some impressive individual results. Every student should be incredibly proud – Little Grove shone brightly, demonstrating skill, sportsmanship, and team spirit.

A special congratulations to our overall performers: Mt Lockyer took out first place, with Little Grove proudly finishing 3rd – an outstanding achievement for our school’s size! In the Most Improved, Mt Lockyer were winners, and Little Grove came in 4th place, showing great growth and determination.

Well done to all our juniors for making Little Grove proud!

Swimming Trials and Interschool Swimming Carnival 2026

We are now starting to think about the 2026 carnival. In Term 1, we will hold our school swimming trials on Thursday, 26 February, and the Interschool Swimming Carnival (B Division) will take place on Tuesday, 24 March.

A friendly reminder for this Year 3 students: if they would like to try out for the 2026 Interschool Swimming Team when in Year 4, they will need to be in Stage 6 and able to swim 25 metres confidently (freestyle, backstroke and Breaststroke).

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our end-of-year picnic.
It was truly wonderful to see so many people there to support the event and to watch our school community enjoying time together outside of school hours. Your presence made the afternoon feel extra special.

A huge thank you to Lucas from Patterson Construction for generously sponsoring our event — the ice creams were a big hit and very much appreciated!
