Principal’s Address

Learning Journey

A massive thank you to the entire community for coming along and supporting our Learning Journey last night. I am sure you will agree it was a fantastic showcase of our amazing school - our students and their work shone brightly. I do want to express a huge thank you to staff for the time and effort that went into creating such an event. This again highlighted the incredible work our staff do, and students here are so lucky to be taught by the best educators. Can I also thank volunteers on the night – our School Board attended in an official capacity, making themselves available to have a chat and listen to community views and opinions. This was a first in what will be a few opportunities to do this as we work towards a new strategic plan. Lastly, and certainly not least – a huge thank you to the P & C for the effort that went into feeding everyone on the night. We are so lucky to have such an engaged group of people willing to give up their time for the benefit of others. I know this also went beyond the P & C to general volunteers as well, helping cook and man the canteen. Thank you!

Faction Carnival

We look forward to welcoming you into the school on Friday for our Faction Carnival. Our students have been practicing and preparing throughout the term and can’t wait to showcase their skills and talents. Please see further into our Newsletter for more specific information on the day.

Music Festival

I had the pleasure of watching our students perform their songs at the Entertainment Centre on Wednesday night for the Music Festival. Our students represented our school with pride; their performance was truly outstanding, and it was a real joy to watch them put on such a great show. I know they were incredibly excited and loved their opportunity to be on stage. A huge thank you to Chappy, Miss Dellaca and Miss Paterson for their musical direction and vison, as well as Mrs Lilly and Mr Gatward who helped out on the night.

Room 6 Assembly

Thank you so much to our wonderful room 6 students who entertained us this week during our assembly, their energy and little bit of sunshine certainly warmed the room!

AUSSIE OF THE MONTH

Well done to this month’s winner of ‘Aussie of the month” which went to Josie. We were spoilt enough to see her wonderful work that she put together, reminding us of the importance of looking after our environment. Such well-deserved recognition, well done Josie!

Dockers Cup - Girls

Our Senior Girls – Dockers Shield Cup Highlights

Our Senior Girls recently competed in the Dockers Shield Cup, and we couldn’t be prouder of their performance!

Their resilience was outstanding — overcoming nerves, supporting each other with encouragement, and showing incredible bravery on the field. The progress they’ve made since training began has been truly impressive, with noticeable improvement in both skill and confidence.

A big congratulations to Skye, who was awarded Best Player of the Day! 👏
Shoutout to Rachael and Skye as well for kicking some fantastic goals.

Thank you to Mr. Davies and Holly for their hard work in training the girls. They were both so impressed with the huge improvement in each player over such a short time.

Great work, team — you represented our School with pride!

What’s happening in Room 8!

This term in Room 8 has been busy and exciting.

In English, the class has been learning about viewing techniques. Students explored how camera angles, colour, and sound can affect the way we understand a story on screen. They watched short clips and discussed how the techniques made the audience feel and think.

The students have delivered formal talks to the class about a topic that interests them. Students used a variety of techniques to keep the audience entertained and listening. Everyone did an awesome job, and we all enjoyed listening to what each person had to say.

In Science, Room 8 has been looking at the properties of materials. The students investigated how different objects can be hard, soft, bendy, strong, or waterproof. They compared materials and talked about why some are more useful than others for certain purposes. The students worked in groups to make packaging to protect a raw egg from dropping 1.5 metres to the concrete. In small groups, they also designed and made shoes out of different materials and will be tested on different surfaces to explore the properties of materials. The students investigated if ice and water weighed the same if the quantity was equal.

This term some of the students have been playing Australian Rules Football. They enjoyed practising their handballing, kicking, and marking. When we got to the two interschool carnivals, everyone showed great teamwork and energy while having fun together.

Overall, Room 8 has had a wonderful term full of learning, teamwork, and discovery.

AUSLAN

During week 10 our Auslan class is coming to life with fruit and yummy healthy snacks! Please can we ask students from year 1-6 to bring a piece of fruit as detailed below to help make this the fun exciting day its sure to be!

Sign of the week

We have been exploring signs for different fruit and ways to express what we like and don’t like. I am amazed by what students have remembered from last year. This week we will begin to investigate the world of common vegetables.

Our sign of the week is FRUIT

WORLD CAR FREE DAY

World Car Free Day, on September 22nd, encourages people to explore alternatives to driving. The Your Move program in Western Australia supports this by promoting active travel options like walking, riding, and using public transport. For World Car Free Day, Your Move suggests activities such as leaving the car at home and trying public transport, walking, or cycling, and participating in community events focused on active travel.

Join us in walking, riding, or skating to school! Miss Upchurch will be outside the undercover area to celebrate World Car Free Day with some fruit organised by our amazing P&C.

Learning Journey

WOW we were blown away with your support last night with our offerings during the learning journey. Thank you to everyone who came along and had a sausage sizzle, pork and gravy roll or a sweet treat. We also want to say a huge thank you to our volunteers; Mark Heales, Caitlin Randall, Sherrie Anderson, Amanda Gilfellon, Skye and Clancy Sluiter, Tara McCready, Caris van der Plas, Steph Capelli and Sheri Demeza.

Sport carnival canteen and cake stall

Lunch orders for the sport carnival day are open now for students and parents. Please note that orders close Tuesday so we can ensure that our volunteers have enough time to collate and prepare for Friday. http://littlegrovepspc.square.site

Donations Needed

We welcome donations for the cake stall to be delivered on the day to the canteen or directly to the stall near the oval. The funds from this year's cake stall are going directly to support the transport of students to the interschool athletics carnival event in Denmark in Term 4.

We still need a few more canteen volunteers to help the day run smoothly, so please consider adding your name to our sign up sheet. https://www.volunteersignup.org/EH7XW

Please note that if you opt to volunteer you can still pop out for your child's events and our volunteers get a FREE lunch order.
