High Performing School Tour
As part of our ongoing journey of continuous improvement, this coming Monday and Tuesday some staff will be undertaking a high-performing school tour. We will be visiting Jolimont Primary School and Warriapendi Primary School in Perth. These visits will provide an opportunity to observe and engage with consistent, evidence-informed practices that are contributing to strong student outcomes. We are looking forward to exploring approaches to high-quality teaching, explicit instruction, and whole-school alignment, with a particular focus on how these schools maintain a strong culture of high expectations and continuous improvement. The tour will support our own reflective practice and help us further refine strategies that strengthen teaching and learning across our school, ensuring we continue to improve outcomes for every student to help them achieve their full potential.
Assembly
Room 5 is hosting this week’s assembly. We look forward to welcoming you into our school to celebrate the success of our students!
Staff Vs Students Netball showdown
What a fantastic lunchtime, bit of fun today! We are so proud of the students who took the initiative to organise a lively staff vs students netball game, bringing the whole school together for some fun, fast-paced action. The court was buzzing with energy, laughter, and friendly rivalry as staff and students went head-to-head in a brilliant display of teamwork and school spirit. There were plenty of great moments, big cheers, and lots of smiles all round!

Showing Respect at Musters and Assemblies
At Little Grove Primary School, we continue to promote our school expectations across all areas of school life. Our current behaviour focus is “Show Respect at Musters and Assemblies.”

Showing respect during musters and assemblies means:
actively listening to presenters,
sitting calmly and safely in the audience,
following instructions from staff, and
demonstrating pride in our school.
Assemblies and musters are important opportunities for students to come together as a school community, celebrate achievements and learn from one another. We are proud of the many students who consistently model these positive behaviours.
To further encourage and recognise respectful behaviour, we have introduced our new Assembly Spy initiative! Each assembly, a secret staff member will be selected as the “Assembly Spy.” Their mission is to quietly observe students throughout the assembly and identify two students demonstrating exemplary behaviour and outstanding respect.

At the end of the assembly, the Assembly Spy will reveal themselves and announce the students they have selected as our amazing assembly attendees.
This is just another way, we at Little Grove, aim to encourage students to demonstrate our school expectations in every context across the school. We look forward to celebrating the positive choices our students make each week!
Room 3 Class Report - What’s new?
Room 3 has been working incredibly hard in Maths! We have been learning to count and recognise numbers all the way up to 15, and we were super impressed when we orally counted together all the way to 120 as a class. We have also been exploring measurement by comparing lengths using hands-on materials. One of our favourite activities was surveying our peers to find out the most popular colour in Pre-Primary Room 3!

In UFLI, we have been busy superstar readers! We now know 20 single sounds and are using our growing sound knowledge to read and build consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words. We have also been working hard on our heart words and showing great enthusiasm in our home reading program. We have been learning how to build strong sentences using our fun song and actions:
Start with a capital letter
Check the words make sense
Use finger spaces
Don’t forget punctuation
In Writing, we have been enjoying The Very Cranky Bear by Nick Bland. We have been learning that narratives have a beginning, middle, and end, as well as characters, a problem, and a solution. This story also sparked lots of curious questions in Room 3 about hibernation and what animals do in winter. We loved sharing our ideas and thinking like authors!
We have already had such a busy and exciting time in Room 3 and are so proud of how hard everyone is working. We cannot wait to keep learning, growing, and discovering new things together!
