Associate Principal’s Address
As we come into the close of Term One, I hope everyone is taking the time to enjoy the last of the warm weather. We had our first Groovy Grover Rewards this term, as chosen by our Student Parliament group. Towerin and Warlich enjoyed icy poles this week because they had reached their 750 point goal, and Waitch have now reached their goal too, so they will receive their icy poles next Monday. Our ECE students will get their icy poles in the next week also.

Thank you to all of our families who completed the Outdoor Prac Space surveys; your feedback is helping our sub-committee to workshop plans to improve our ability to deliver interventions that support our students' wellbeing at LGPS. We will keep you all updated as we work on planning going forward.
Another highlight this week was our performance from the Bunbury Cathedral College band; we enjoyed theme music from Cars, Taylor Swift, the Village People and some beautiful classical music as well. Our students joined in with singing 'Shake it off', shaking percussion eggs, and even having a go at conducting the band themselves! It was wonderful to watch our whole school enjoy immersing themselves in music for an hour or so.
I wish our students all the best at the Interschool Swimming carnival next week; I know that they will represent our school showing our expected behaviours like; doing their best, following instructions from staff and visitors, and wearing our uniform with pride. All the best Little Grovers!
Thanks,
Ms Pedretti
Week 10 - Cultural celebrations
We sure do have a week full of fun, packed into our last week of term! On Monday or Tuesday depending on your class’s day, we are celebrating the rich language we learn here at LGPS. Students are welcome to wear their favourite colours on both Monday and Tuesday; but to definitely wear them on their LOTE day.
Wednesday will be all about Harmony Day, filled with fun, inclusive activities that everyone is sure to enjoy! Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
On Friday, we have our Easter tradition of a little parade around the undercover area showing off our Easter hat creations! Let’s get those creative juices flowing over the next week and see what fun we can make! After the parade, our lovely P&C will be drawing a winner for the Easter Raffle, yay chocolate!
Clubs at LGPS
This year, we are offering a range of Clubs for our students to join in on at lunch times.
We continue to have our before school fitness club, but this year we have a range of lunch time clubs, so that every day there is somewhere for our students to go and feel a sense of belonging when they need it. You can take a look at our club poster below for examples of what’s on offer.
Have a look at an example of what happens in our Creative Club, aren’t their creations exquisite!
Creative club
Have you heard about our Creative Club? Creative Club for year 5/6 students runs during lunch on Tuesdays with Miss Q. Check out the beaded butterflies the participants whipped up this week!

It’s so lovely to see students enjoying this creative space.

AUSLAN
Auslan day!!
Auslan Day is celebrated on the 12th of April, this will be during the holidays, so we will be celebrating during Week 10.
We are having “Wear your favourite colour” days. This will be discussed in class this week.

Signs of the week - Two really useful signs this week.
Teacher.
This sign is a noun but can also be used when naming a teacher as there is no sign for Mr, Mrs or Miss. Instead, students are encouraged to sign “Teacher _________” For example students sign Miss Q as ‘Teacher Q’.

Toilet
This is a sign that students use frequently in classes around the school. Please encourage them to sign in Auslan rather than using the signal “Timeout”

School Sport
Hockey Clinics
All students have had a blast this week participating in hockey with Dinah!
If you're interested in more information about your child playing hockey this year, please contact Dinah at [email protected].
Students in PP to Year 3 can start learning basic skills in the Goldstix hockey program on weekday afternoons.
Year 2-4 students can sign up to play half-field games.
Year 5-6 students can sign up to play the full-field competition.
Be sure to check out the photos of the Room 2 students having so much fun while learning how to be safe with a hockey stick and playing some fun games.
