Dockers Cup
Good luck to our team competing at the interschool football carnival on Tuesday. The last event was cancelled due to weather, so our team has been waiting eagerly for this competition to be back on. They have continued to give up lunchtimes to train, showing a real commitment to the cause which has been fantastic to see. Represent our great school with pride!
Learning Journey
A reminder that our Learning Journey is now less than a week away, taking place on Thursday 11 September from 4pm – 6pm. Classrooms will be open from 4pm – 5.40pm, with a special music performance taking place in the Undercover area at 5.50pm. During this evening, the Library will be holding a Book Fair – a fantastic opportunity to purchase some new books for your child while also supporting the school.

Music Festival
Good luck to our students participating in the Music Festival on Wednesday. They too have been giving up lunch times to practice and rehearse, and I know all of this effort is going to pay off through an amazing performance at the big event – I can’t wait to see what they perform!
P & C Meeting
Our next P & C Meeting is taking place this Tuesday 9 September at 7pm – I look forward to seeing you there.
Next week’s behaviour focus

Spelling Bee

Our recent spelling bee competition was a huge success! Students competed in their factions, working in teams of three to tackle tricky words together. There was fantastic sharing of ideas and clever strategies, like writing words on whiteboards and choosing the one that looked correct. Warlich proved unbeatable, winning both the Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 competitions. Between rounds, Chappy kept everyone entertained with lively spelling and word challenges, adding to the excitement.

The feedback from students and staff was overwhelmingly positive — everyone agreed it was even more fun than expected and a wonderful way to celebrate teamwork, learning, and a love of words!
The Art Room - Room 3
Room 3 were amazing! We studied Yayoi Kusama and her pumpkins. They then painted papers, decorated these papers with dots and cut out the strips. We painted the wooden blocks and learnt how to carefully thread our painted paper strips onto the skewers to make the pumpkin shapes. These were a little tricky, but we did a great job.

We are really looking forward to showing everyone these bright and colourful Pumpkin Stacks for Open Night.
AUSLAN
Firstly, a huge congratulations to Patrick, who has received this month’s signing star of the month! Your hard work and dedication is certainly paying off, well done Patrick!

Sign of the week
This week we are preparing to celebrate Father’s Day in Auslan as it is celebrated across Australia and within the Deaf Community, this week’s word is father. The students and I will be crafting a little surprise in class for a special person in their lives.

I hope you enjoy a special time with your loved ones this weekend

📚 Open to Learning
✅ Being Responsible
Here is a quick look at the map and schedule for the day.

Thank you to Mr Davies who has been training our girls up each week in order to prepare them for this fun event. Let’s get behind our team and wish them the very best of luck! Go girls – we’re proud of you!

Car free day and Bike week next term
On Monday 22 September we will be having a car free day at school. What a perfect excuse to dust off those bikes and check them over. Here’s a quick helpful check list to make sure you’re bike ready!
Do an ABC Quick Check
This week’s Bike Safety Reminder is all about doing a quick safety inspection before every ride to ensure your bike is in top condition. Use the ABC Quick Check:
· A is for Air
Check the tires for proper air pressure and look for any visible damage or punctures.
· B is for Brakes and Bars
Test the brakes to ensure they stop the bike effectively. Check the handlebars by holding the front wheel between your knees and trying to twist the handlebars. If they move, they need tightening.
· C is for Chain and Crank
Ensure the chain is oiled, properly attached, and the pedals spin smoothly.
· Quick
If your bike has quick-release wheels, make sure they are securely fastened and not loose.
· Check
Give your bike a final check: lift it a few inches off the ground and gently drop it. Listen for any loose parts and tighten as needed. Don’t forget to test the brakes before you ride!

If your child is in Year 3 from Room 6 or Room 3, this is a great opportunity do a ABC Quick Check: ahead of their Bike Education sessions at the start of Term 4.
