Ride to School
We had a great turn out to our event this morning, with so many students involved with active transport options. There were plenty of smiling faces at the muffin and fruit table! Well done to everyone getting behind this initiative! A massive thank you to Mrs Upchurch for organising this event for our students.
Easter Hat Parade
Our annual Easter Hat Parade will take place on Thursday 2 April, commencing at approximately 8.50am in the undercover area. We encourage all students to get involved in this fun event as we celebrate the end of a fantastic term of learning at LGPS. We also love having our community join us for these special occasions. A coffee van will be on site from 8.00am, so please feel free to arrive a little earlier to enjoy a coffee and connect with other families before the parade begins.
Bus Costs
While this is not an immediate concern, particularly with upcoming excursions already planned, I would like to make you aware of a current issue we are facing regarding bus costs. Recent quotes for future bookings have come in at approximately 50% higher than last year. While this is outside of our control, ongoing global factors, including potential further conflict in the Middle East, may continue to place upward pressure on fuel prices and, in turn, transport costs. As you know, each year we provide a schedule of costs and contributions, which outlines the maximum amounts we can charge families across the year. Schools typically operate well within these limits; however, this year it is likely that excursion costs may sit at the higher end of our allocated amounts. We are unable to exceed the published charges. This is not an issue unique to our school - many schools across the Great Southern are experiencing similar challenges. As a collective, we have written to the Department to seek advice and support. I wanted to ensure you are aware that, within the existing guidelines, excursion costs may be higher than usual this year.
Swimming Carnival
Our interschool team heads off to represent the school on Tuesday. I wish them the best of luck and know they will take a lot of pride in the opportunity they get to represent our school. Go well and focus on your personal best.

PASLET
Meet the PASLET Team
Creating a supportive context for learning is a priority at Little Grove Primary School, and many families may wonder who helps guide this work across our school. The answer is PASLET, the Positive and Supportive Learning Environment Team, a passionate group of educators dedicated to supporting positive behaviour and student and staff wellbeing.

PASLET leads the development of our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach at Little Grove. The team works to build a safe, inclusive and positive school community by defining, teaching and encouraging positive behaviours. Using observations and school data, the team develops strategies that respond to the unique needs of our students and support staff in creating consistent expectations across the school. Their work helps ensure expectations are clear, consistently taught and celebrated, supporting a positive school culture where students feel safe, included and ready to learn.
This Week’s Behaviour focus
This week, our behaviour focus is all about showing respect—to our peers, teachers, and ourselves. Simple actions can make a big difference: keeping hands and feet to yourself, listening when others are speaking, and treating everyone with kindness. By practicing respect every day, we create a safe and positive environment where everyone can learn, grow, and feel valued. Let’s work together to make respect the heart of our community this week!

FRIDAY’S COLOUR RUN!!

We are very excited for our first Colour Run next Friday! To ensure student safety, maximise space, and encourage participation, the afternoon will be split into two sessions: 2.00pm – 2.25pm and 2.30pm – 2.55pm.
· Session 1 (2.00pm – 2.25pm): Kindy, PP (Centre 2 and Room 3), Room 1 and Room 2
· Session 2 (2.30pm – 2.55pm): Rooms 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8
Students should wear their school uniform to school and bring a change of clothes for the afternoon. Just before lunch, students will change into their Colour Run outfit - ideally a white (or light) shirt. They may also wish to bring a change of shorts/skirt, and optional items such as an old hat, goggles or a shower cap. Please note the colour powder used is cornflour-based and is safe – these are just extra safety measures should you wish to consider. A towel for after the event is also a consideration – particularly for any students travelling in a car or the bus! Sliming of Teachers will take place after each session. We would love this to be a great community event and warmly invite parents and carers to come along and watch. We are also seeking volunteers to assist on the day. Help will be needed with set-up and at activity stations as students move around the oval.
If you are available to support, please head here: https://volunteersignup.org/9AJ7X

Post Colour Run, you will be able to sign your child out from the oval. This will be particularly relevant to our junior students taking part in the first session. If you do want to sign your child out early, you must speak to your child’s Teacher who will have a quick process to sign them out. Otherwise, normal pick-up arrangements should be in place for 3pm.
We still do have a few families yet to respond to the participation request sent out via compass. Please accept this for our child to participate in the fun on the day.
CLASS REPORT Room 5
Room 5 has had a busy week this week with lots of learning and the Year 3s finishing their NAPLAN on Monday. Yay!
We also filled up our classroom pom-pom jar halfway by working hard during our UFLI and Heggerty lessons. This meant that we earnt some free time on the computers. In UFLI students have been learning about the bossy 'e' that makes the vowel sound say their name or their long sound. Students have been using their mini whiteboards to practise writing these words.
In Mathematics students have been practising addition using the split strategy as well as mental strategies to add up numbers including doubles and near doubles.
We have also been learning about Harmony Day which is on the 21st of March. The theme for this year is 'Everyone Belongs.' We read the story, My Two Blankets about a girl who immigrated to Australia and found belonging. The story highlights different cultures and how everyone is different. Students designed their own blanket to show things that are important in their life.
We have also been enjoying visits from Mrs Bairstow's Spiny Leaf Insects!

Keep up the great work staying active, and we look forward to seeing even more students involved in our upcoming events!

Monday Muster Sport
We are halfway through our 3-week development officer sessions during Monday sport. We have been lucky enough to have Ches from Football West and Dinah running hockey and netball sessions with our students.
Unfortunately, netball was unable to attend the first session. Our amazing Year 6 students — Shelby, Isla, and Jade — stepped up at lunchtime to plan some netball activities suitable for the junior students. They then ran the session themselves during Monday sport.
They did a fantastic job leading the activities, and there may be some future teacher-coaches in the making with these three girls!
We have one more session next week with our development officers. These sessions have been a great hit with both students and staff.
Thank you to our local development officers for facilitating these sessions with our students. We really appreciate the time and effort they put into supporting our school. Hopefully we will be able to organise something again with them next term.

INTERSCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Well done and good luck to all our swimmers who were selected at trials to compete in Tuesday’s Swimming Carnival! 🏊♀️
We are so proud of each of you and can’t wait to see you give it your all in the pool. Please remember to represent our values, show great sportsmanship, support one another, and most importantly—enjoy the experience!
Wishing you all the very best of luck. Go out there and make a splash!
