Principal’s Address
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our Years 1 to 6 students showed great resilience this week with the trial starting of Play First (eat second) at break times.
I went around and asked the students for some feedback so far and this is what they had to say:
“I like it, play time seems longer”
“I’m not hungry after running around”
“It’s great that by the time I get into class I’m not as hot as we used to be”
“I’m less hungry when I go home!”
“It feels very weird, but I’m sure we will get used to it”
Also, our Year 3 and 5 students completed their Naplan writing, reading and conventions of language tests. These students demonstrated how to follow instructions, have a go, keep trying even if hard.
Next week we will complete the Numeracy test and any catch-up testing (if absent).
Parent representative for LGPS School Board needed.
We have a position vacant for a parent representative to be on our School Board. This vacancy is for 3 years from Term 2 2025 to Term 1 2028.
Please fill out the attached nomination form and email to [email protected] by Friday 28 March 2025.
Thanks
Darryn Martin
Principal

We ask the same please of toys, at school, we do have fidget toys and sensory breaks for students, please can students keep their own toys safely at home.
Book Club
The new Book club books have gone out Yesterday! Each student should have them in their bag. If you would like to place an order, please ensure that orders are made before the 30th of March.
We do apologise for the delay in the delivery of the last order. Scholastic have changed couriers and there seems to be a bit of a delay in them arriving.
Please enjoy looking through the new issue and choosing some fun and exciting books!
Class Report - Room 4
During Health lessons the children of Room Four have been looking at the Australian Guide to Healthy eating and investigating healthy (and not so healthy) food choices. So many delicious foods are good for you and provide you with the energy required to get through a busy day at school!
This week, the children viewed the Vegetables and Fruit section of the A.G.T.H.E and constructed a shopping list for Mr Corson. On the following day they worked in teams to create a healthy snack plate. The results were delicious!
Chefs at work
The masterpieces
In geography the children have been investigating 'neighbours of Australia'. Finding out more about people, natural features and the history of a chosen 'neighbouring' country (such as Indonesia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea). In week eight they'll present their findings to the class.
In writing the children are constructing some amazing narratives based on a warning tale. In Maths they're building fluency in the Four Times Table and practising strategies for subtraction. The whole class are determined to win the next Chinjinup Mathletics award, and each child is trying hard to reach 1000 points this week!

On Friday the 21 March we have our fun, Ride to School Day!! We would love to see everyone there, so dust off those bikes and come on down, it’s going to be a great morning, and our wonderful P&C are bringing yummy fruit for afterwards, yay!
Fitness club
It’s been fantastic to see so many students and their families out at Running Club over the past few weeks! Just a reminder that only students in Year 1–6 will receive a running card, and certificates throughout the year. Kindy and Pre-Primary students may participate under the care and supervision of their parents. Next week, we’ll be switching things up and doing Skipping Club on Monday and Wednesday next week.
All students from Year 1 to Year 6 will participate in a 12-minute run around the oval to see how many laps they can complete within that time in next week's PE lesson.
To give you an idea of the distance your child is running, please see the below. Please note that these are approximate distances covered.
