What an exciting time we have ahead of us as we move through Term 4! There are so many wonderful events and initiatives happening at our school, and I'm thrilled to share these updates with you.
P&C Disco - Friday, November 21
Our fantastic P&C has been hard at work organizing our upcoming school disco on Friday, November 21. This is always one of the highlights of the term, and the children absolutely love the chance to dance, celebrate, and spend time with their friends in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. A huge thank you to our P&C volunteers who dedicate so much time and energy to making these events possible for our students.
Story Dogs Fundraiser
We have an exciting fundraising day coming up to support our wonderful Story Dogs program. Students are invited to come dressed in orange, as a dog, or in dog-themed clothing to help us raise funds for this valuable literacy initiative. Story Dogs has made such a positive impact on our students' reading confidence and enthusiasm, and your support will help us continue this program. Let's see how creative our students can be with their dog-inspired outfits!
Year 5 Leadership Campaign Begins

Our Year 5 students are now embarking on an important journey as they begin their leadership campaign for 2026. Students interested in becoming a School Leader or Faction Captain will have the opportunity to prepare and deliver speeches to their peers. This process is so much more than just a competition – it's a genuine learning experience that allows our students to develop public speaking skills, build confidence, and truly understand what leadership means. It's wonderful to see our young people step up, share their vision, and demonstrate the qualities that will serve them throughout their lives.
School Website Update
You may have noticed that we're in the process of updating our school website. We appreciate your patience during this transition and welcome any feedback once the new site is launched.

Athletics Interschool Carnival - Week 7
Finally, I want to remind everyone that our Athletic Interschool Carnival is taking place in Week 7. Our brilliant Ms Upchurch has done an incredible job preparing our students for this competition, and I know our athletes are ready to represent our school with pride and determination. All parents are warmly welcome and strongly encouraged to come along and support our competitors. There's nothing quite like seeing our school community come together to cheer on our students – your presence truly makes a difference and means the world to the children.
Thank you for your continued support of our school community.
STUDENT SERVICES!
Story Dogs
Story Dogs is a wonderful volunteer program that helps support children with reading by pairing them with friendly, calm dogs who listen as they read aloud. Each week, Ruby the Story Dog visits our school to spend time with students, helping them build confidence and develop a love of reading in a fun and relaxed way. To help raise funds and keep this amazing program running, we invite all students to join in a special fundraising day on December 4th. Children can come dressed in orange (the Story Dogs’ colour), as a dog, or in a dog-themed outfit. Please bring along a gold coin donation to support Ruby and the Story Dogs program so they can continue making reading a paws-itively enjoyable experience for everyone!

SALVOS Christmas boxes
A huge thank you to our wonderful Kindy room and Mrs Heales for creating the most beautifully Christmassy wrapping paper for our Salvation Army Food Appeal boxes! 🎄
The school elves have been busy and have secretly delivered a box to every classroom — and they’re ready to start being filled!
For any parents who are new or unsure what to donate, I’ve included a short list below for inspiration. We’re collecting pantry items — things that won’t spoil — so that when the hampers are shared with families in need this Christmas, they’ll be full of food that can truly be enjoyed on the big day.
Ideas of what you can bring in:
Fruits and vegetables: Canned fruits in juice, canned vegetables like peas and corn.
Legumes: Lentils, chickpeas, baked beans.
Soups: Canned or packet soups.
Main meals: Spaghetti, canned meat, or fish.
Sweet treats: Consider adding some special items or brand-name products for celebrations.
Snacks: Chip packets, biscuits, lollies, milo, long life milk, custard etc
I'm hoping we can fill my office again this year with all your wonderful donations. See the pic from last year:

Well-done to Harrison, who managed to come away with the Aussie of the month certificate. Harrison is a caring friend who helps others when they are feeling Lonely. Harrison has also been an awesome soccer umpire at lunchtimes, keeping the games fun and fair. Amazing work Harrison.
ROOM 4 Class Report
After a big week of swimming lessons, Room Four have hit the ground running and redirected their energy into academic pursuits!
The week began with a focus on number concepts. During a numeracy session, Mrs M visited the room and captured some great photos of the students demonstrating their understanding of decimal place value and revising strategies for division with Mr Corson.
In literacy, the children have been going over key grammatical terms such as common and proper nouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs. They’ve also been putting their knowledge into practice by constructing creative, complex sentences.

As Room Four continue learning to write explanatory texts, the class has been exploring different types of natural disasters and discovering how these events occur. During fluency reading sessions, students have been aiming to improve their words-per-minute scores while reading about tsunamis — building both fluency and knowledge at the same time (a win–win!). Last week, the class investigated earthquakes together, recording key words and notes. Now, each student is drafting their own explanation text describing the processes that lead to these powerful natural phenomena. Next week, they’ll move on to researching and writing about a natural disaster of their choice independently.

In a rather dramatic turn of events, a volcanic eruption reportedly occurred in Room Four early on Tuesday morning — before students arrived! Fortunately, Mr Corson was on site bright and early and had everything cleaned up before the classroom doors opened at 8:30.
