Footy Carnival

A huge well done to our boys’ footy team, who represented Little Grove brilliantly at this week’s carnival. The boys showed great teamwork, sportsmanship and determination throughout the day, and should be very proud of their efforts. A big thank you to Mr Davies for coaching the team and giving up plenty of his time to get the boys ready, we really appreciate all the work you put into this. Thanks also to Mr Lowson for his support and help on the day and a big thank you to Mr Heales for umpiring - the hamstrings stayed intact through the day! 

School Drop Off

A reminder to all families that students should not arrive at school before 8.30am, as supervision is not available before this time. This is important for the safety and wellbeing of all students. Between 8.30am and 8.35am, students who are not accompanied by an adult should make their way to the undercover area, where supervision is provided. Classroom doors open at 8.35am, ready for students to settle in and prepare for the day. Thank you for your support in helping us keep all students safe before school.

Book Week Parade

Our Book Week Parade is next Friday! We look forward to seeing some fantastic costumes and celebrating Book Week together as a school community. This will kick off from 8.50am in the Undercover Area. 

Father day raffle tickets available this week

Our Year 6 parents will be selling Father’s Day Hamper Raffle tickets each morning at school drop-off this week, with the lucky winners drawn at our Week 7 assembly on Tuesday morning.

The hampers look fantastic, and we are so grateful to the local businesses who have generously supported our raffle, as well as our wonderful Year 6 families who have donated prizes and volunteered their time to sell tickets.

Tickets are just $5 each, with all proceeds helping our Year 6 students with their camp.

Good luck to everyone who enters — and a huge thank you to everyone who has supported our Year 6s!

A huge congratulations to all students who entered our Faction Poster Competition! We received an incredible 117 entries—nearly half of our school population!

Thank you to all students for the time, creativity and effort they invested, and to our parents and families for supporting this initiative. Our three judges had a very difficult job completing the blind judging process in order to select the winners, given the exceptionally high standard of entries.

A Big Thank You to Domino’s Pizza Albany!

A huge thank you to Domino’s Pizza Albany for generously donating pizzas for our Faction Poster Competition winners to enjoy at their special Winners’ Pizza Party!

It was wonderful to celebrate student creativity and achievement with a delicious pizza lunch. We are very grateful to Domino’s Pizza Albany for helping us make the celebration extra special.

This week, our students who earned Good Standing through their incredible behaviour were rewarded with a fun afternoon of board games and games galore!

It was wonderful to see students of different ages interacting, teaching one another, learning new games and enjoying some friendly competition together. There were plenty of smiles, laughs and a little bit of healthy rivalry along the way!

A huge well done to all of our Good Standing students. Your positive behaviour and the choices you have made throughout the year have certainly earned this reward. We are very proud of you!

This week's behaviour focus is following our eating routines at recess and lunch.

Being responsible means taking the time to eat our food, staying in the correct eating area, and following our school's lunchtime expectations. Healthy eating habits help keep our bodies fuelled, our minds focused, and everyone safe and ready to learn for the rest of the day!

What a busy and brilliant start to Semester 2 we’ve had in Centre 2! We are becoming absolute reading superstars, building an amazing vocabulary with fancy new words like splendid, elegant, and clamber. Meanwhile, in Digital Technologies, we’ve been logging on, mastering keyboard and mouse controls, and exploring early coding with our Tale-Bots!

We have been developing our skills in writing short and simple sentences. Students have been learning about capital letters, spaces, and full stops, using fun hand movements and gestures to help remember each one. We are so proud of the resilience and determination students are showing as they attempt to write CVC words and use them in their writing. They have been so proud of their efforts!

We have been exploring length, mass, and capacity through hands-on activities. Students have been learning about long and short and using informal units to measure. One of our favourite activities was painting our feet and using our footprints to measure their length! We have also explored hefting to compare the mass of objects and discovered that bigger doesn’t always mean heavier.

This term, we have been exploring special places and places within our community. Students have been discussing why we have different places to visit, what makes places special, and sharing their favourite places to visit. These conversations are helping students understand how people connect with and use different places in their community.

We are also currently working on a special Geography project that we are very excited to share with you during our upcoming Open Classroom evening. We can’t wait to show you what we have been learning and creating!

Sign of the week

The signs of the week are Like and Dislike. Both signs use the same handshape, orientation, location and movement. The only thing that changes is the facial expression or what is referred to as “non manual features” in Auslan. Have a wonderful week. I hope you experiences lots of things you like and not too many that you dislike.

A big thank you to all the students who have been coming along to Fitness Club and practising their 200m!

Miss Upchurch has been timing all students over the past two weeks in preparation for our Faction Athletics Carnival. Unfortunately, only the top three fastest students in each year group and gender will compete in the A Division 200m at our Faction Carnival.

The students who achieved the top three 200m times will be announced next week.

Next week, we are back to our normal Fitness Club, running laps around the oval and using our Fitness Club cards to keep track of our laps.

We are raising funds for the interschool carnival bus transport to Denmark next Term.
