Staff Development Day

A reminder to families that next Friday 21 August is a Staff Development Day. Students do not attend school on this day. Staff will be at school, reviewing our NAPLAN data and continuing the development of our Business Plan in preparation for 2027. We look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Monday 24 August.

 Football Carnival

We wish our Boys Football Team the very best of luck as they represent Little Grove Primary School on Tuesday. We know they will compete with great effort, teamwork and sportsmanship, and we look forward to hearing how they go. Our Girls Football Team will also have their opportunity to represent the school later this term, and they have been working hard to prepare for their carnival. Keep up the great work! 

A HUGE THANK YOU! 

At the end of last Term, we held an incredible sausage sizzle at Bunnings.  On behalf of our Year 6 students and their families, we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came out and supported our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle! 

Thanks to your incredible support, along with a very generous donation from one special family, we raised an amazing $2,874 towards our Year 6 camp! 

We truly appreciate everyone who stopped by for a sausage, made a donation, shared our fundraiser, or simply came along to show their support.

Your generosity means so much to our Year 6 students and will help make their camp a very special experience. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

On Thursday 20th August, we will be holding our Good Standing Reward Afternoon to celebrate the wonderful students who have maintained their Good Standing this term by consistently demonstrating Little Grove Primary School's four behaviour expectations:

The Good Standing Reward Afternoon is our way of recognising and celebrating students who make positive choices every day. These students have shown a commitment to our school values and will enjoy a fun afternoon with their peers.

To make the event extra exciting, students from Yr 2 to 6 are invited to bring along a favourite board game or card game to enjoy with friends. Kindy, Pre-Primary and Year 1 students will have a delightful time playing games organised by their teachers. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate their success while building friendships, practising teamwork, taking turns, communicating respectfully and showing good sportsmanship through game play.

Follow eating routines at recess and lunch

Being responsible means making good choices and following our school routines. At recess and lunch, this means eating in the right place, staying seated while eating, putting rubbish in the bin and making sure we clean up after ourselves. It also means following staff instructions and making safe, respectful choices so everyone can enjoy their break.

Remember: Eat, clean up, and be ready to enjoy your break!

Our talented Room 2 students recently took us on a very cute and entertaining adventure with Herbert’s Walk!

We followed Herbert as he headed out birdwatching, meeting some very interesting neighbours along the way. From a neighbour painting her steps pink (because, apparently, axolotls love pink steps!) to a watermelon-loving neighbour, there was never a dull moment. Of course, spotting a beautiful Western Rosella was a very exciting highlight, and what better way to celebrate than with another song!

With plenty of singing, smiles and some wonderfully enthusiastic performances, our Room 2 students did a fantastic job bringing Herbert’s little adventure to life.

Congratulations to our very deserving Aussie of the Month, Henley R!

Henley has been recognised for consistently showing kindness and care towards others. Recently, he went out of his way to help a fellow student put on their jumper — such a simple act, but one that showed just how thoughtful and caring he is.

We absolutely love hearing about our students sharing kindness and looking out for one another. Henley, you are a wonderful role model for your peers and are showing us all what it means to be a kind and caring member of our school community.

Well done, Henley! We are so proud of you and the kind young man you are becoming!

The sign of the week is Australia. The students and I will be building on their bank of lexical animal signs and exploring Australian animals, signs over the next few weeks. It is also important to note that new signs are emerging within the Deaf community for “Australia” that represent indigenous perspective.

At the recent GSPPSSA meeting, the public school Physical Education teachers agreed to several changes to the Interschool Athletics Carnival.

The first change is that the 300m event has been removed from the Junior Interschool Athletics Carnival and replaced with a 200m event. To prepare for this change, all students in Years 1–6 will be practising the 200m during PE lessons this term.

A second change is that the Interschool Athletics Carnival will now be held over multiple days in Term 4:

200m Selection Process

Due to our school oval having only a three-lane running track, we are limited to timing three students at a time. To ensure a fair and consistent selection process, every student in Years 1–6 will complete a timed 200m during PE lessons in Weeks 5 and 6.

Based on these results, the top six students in each year level and gender will qualify to compete in the 200m event at the Faction Athletics Carnival:

During Fitness Club in Week 5, all students in Years 1–6 are encouraged to practise the 200m event. Students can make their way to the 200m starting line at the far end of the oval, line up, and complete as many practice runs as time allows.

Please note that Fitness Cards will not be available during Weeks 4 and 5, as Fitness Club will be dedicated to 200m training and preparation.

These practice sessions will help students build confidence, improve their pacing, and prepare for the timed 200m trials that will take place during PE lessons in Weeks 5 and 6.

Why not take advantage of our Wednesday Canteen and let someone else do the lunch packing for a day!

Just remember, all orders must be placed by 12:00 pm on Tuesday via www.quickcliq.com.au so our wonderful canteen volunteers can prepare everything ready for Wednesday.

Tickets are just $5 each, with sales kicking off in Week 6. Parents will be selling tickets outside the undercover area during morning drop-off, so make sure you grab a ticket (or two… or five!) and get behind our Year 6 students.
