Walk to School
It was fantastic to see so many families involved in our walk to school day on Wednesday morning. There were ‘tattoos’ being handed out for those who participated, fruit and veg on offer and overall, just a great community atmosphere with a lot of parents and carers involved as well. A huge thank you to our senior students who helped out, the P & C for your amazing involvement and the organisation of the event by Mrs Upchurch.
Behaviour Expectations
I would like to congratulate the students of LGPS for the excellent start to this term in regard to behaviour. This week, we met our whole school faction point target which means we will be having a movie afternoon reward next week. Having worked in a few schools, I am incredibly impressed by the standards of behaviour here at LGPS and the values shown by our students. The relationship between school and home is incredibly important, particularly in regard to reinforcing expected behaviour. I hope you can take a moment to reinforce my message to your child for contributing to the wonderful school environment we have here at LGPS.
Illness
Unfortunately there has been a high amount of illness in the school this week. If you do notice signs of your child being unwell, please do keep them home so we can minimise the impact of this across the school and keep students safe and healthy
Faction Behaviour Goal Reached
Congratulations to all our wonderful students for helping their factions reach an incredible 2250 points! To celebrate this fantastic achievement, we’re having a special reward afternoon, as chosen by our Student Parliament. This Tuesday, August 12, the children will enjoy a cosy movie afternoon, complete with popcorn provided by the school. Everyone is invited to wear their pyjamas and bring along one cuddly toy to snuggle with during the film. This celebration is a well-earned reward for consistently demonstrating our school’s expected behaviours. We are so proud of the effort, kindness and responsibility shown by our students – well done to each and every one of you!
Meet Mr Gatward Year 5/6 Teacher

My name is Keegan Gatward, and I am thrilled to be joining the team at Little Grove Primary School next Semester. I come from Albany Primary School, where I’ve had the pleasure of teaching a wonderful Year 2/3 split class. While I’m excited for this new chapter, I feel very fortunate to continue teaching in a place I truly love.
I’ve called Albany home for the past 12 years and feel deeply connected to the area and community. Outside of school, I’m a proud father to my nearly four-year-old son, who keeps me on my toes and reminds me daily of the joy and curiosity children bring into our lives.
I’m really looking forward to getting to know the students, families, staff, and the wider Little Grove community. I believe in creating a positive and engaging classroom environment where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to grow both academically and personally.
Thank you for the warm welcome I’ve already started to receive. I can’t wait to meet you all soon and begin this exciting journey together.

Winter Walk to School Day – A Huge Success!
What a beautiful, crisp morning we had for this term’s Winter Walk to School Day – the energy was high and the smiles were even brighter!
A massive thank you to all the wonderful families who joined in and are getting behind our Your Move events. It’s amazing to see our school community making healthy, active choices together.
We’d also like to send a huge shoutout to A-Veg for once again donating a colourful spread of fresh fruit and veggies. Your generosity and ongoing support truly make a difference – and our students absolutely love it!
And of course, a big round of applause for our superstar P&C volunteers, who lovingly prepared and served all the fruit and veg. Your efforts helped make the morning even more special (and delicious!).

Your Move Results Are In!
We’re excited to share the results from our latest Your Move survey – and what a fantastic effort from our school community!
41% of students walked to school
19% rode their bikes or scooters
17% caught the bus
23% arrived by car

That means an incredible 77% of our students used active transport (walking, riding, or catching the bus) to get to school!
A special mention goes to:
Room 1 (Junior Class) – 14 students walked to school!
Room 8 (Senior Class) – 15 students walked to school!
Well done to everyone who participated and helped make this initiative such a success. Let’s keep moving towards a healthier, more active school community!

Thanks to everyone who helped make the day such a fun and healthy celebration of moving more and starting the day right.
Exciting Your Move News!
We can’t wait for our next Your Move event, which will be held on Monday, 22nd September in celebration of World Car Free Day! It's another great opportunity to leave the car at home and choose a fun, active way to get to school!
We also have some very exciting news...
Thanks to the amazing work of our P&C superstar Sherri, we were successful in receiving a Bike Month grant! As a result, our Year 3 students from Room 3 and Room 6 will be participating in Bike Education next term.
(Our Year 3 students from Room 4 already completed their Bike Ed sessions earlier this year )
Bike Education Session Times:
Session 1: Term 4, Week 1 – Tuesday, 14th October | 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM
Session 2: Term 4, Week 2 – Tuesday, 21st October | 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
We’re so proud of our school community for continuing to support active, healthy, and sustainable travel. Let’s keep the momentum going!
High Jump is Flying High!
Our high jump sessions before school during fitness and at lunchtime have been a huge hit with our Year 4–6 students this week! It’s been fantastic to see so many enthusiastic jumpers giving it their best and having fun.
Next week, we’re taking things to the next level by introducing the high jump bar before school ! At lunchtime, Bodhi will be running a special Year 4-only session to guide students through the basics. As it’s their first year eligible to participate in high jump, this is a great chance to build confidence and learn key techniques in a supportive setting.
