Principal’s Address
As we approach Mother’s Day this Sunday, I would like to extend warm wishes to all the wonderful mothers, grandmothers, carers and special women in our school community. We hope your day is filled with love, laughter and special moments with your families. Thank you for the countless ways you support, encourage and care for our students each and every day. Your dedication and kindness make a lasting difference in their lives.

A very sincere thank you also goes to our amazing P&C for organising Friday’s delightful cake stall and the fun Mother’s Night Out at the movies. These events brought so much joy to our community and were a wonderful way to celebrate together. Our P&C are fabulous contributors to our school, and we are incredibly grateful for the time, energy and enthusiasm they give so generously throughout the year. Their ongoing support helps create the strong sense of community that makes our school such a special place.
Kindergarten Enrolments 2027
We are now accepting Kindy applications for 2027. If your child is born between July 1 2022 and June 30 2023, they are eligible to enrol at LGPS for 2027. The application window will be open throughout Term 2, and close early in Term 3. At which stage we will then review all applications and advise parents of a position by the end of August. If you would like to apply to enrol your child at LGPS, please follow the link below.

Our School Behaviour Matrix
At Little Grove Primary School, we have a Behaviour Matrix that helps us create a safe, consistent, and positive learning environment for all students. It is used, and can be seen displayed, in all areas of our school in various formats.

The matrix clearly states the behaviours we expect across different school settings, breaking down each of our 4 expectations into simple, teachable actions. These are explicitly taught so that students and staff understand what positive behaviour looks like throughout the school. By focusing on what students should do, we address antisocial behaviours, create a safer environment, and maximise time for learning.
The Behaviour Matrix is constantly evolving to ensure it meets the needs of our school. It also provides a common language for staff, students, and families, helping us work together to support positive behaviour every day.
WEEKLY BEHAVIOUR FOCUS
Next week, our Groovy Grover focus will be on showing respect by keeping our hands and feet to ourselves in the classroom. We will be encouraging students to make safe and respectful choices, use personal space appropriately, and help create a calm and positive learning environment for everyone. This focus supports kindness, self-control, and caring interactions with others throughout the school day.

SCHOOL ASSEMBLY
HONOUR CERTIFICATES
This week we held our first assembly for Term 2 — it’s crazy how quickly the time is flying by! It has been wonderful to see so many students continuing to work hard and put in such fantastic effort across all areas of school life.
A huge well done to the following students who received Honours Certificates at assembly. Your hard work, dedication, and positive attitude have not gone unnoticed, and we are very proud of you all. Or honour certificate winners were:
Dustyn C, Ella M, Rosalind K, Leila-Paige H, Maisyn L, Ariella S, Brock W, Lawson M, Yolanda W, Tom C, Florence L, Nicholas F, Quinn V, Madeleine C, Sibella R, Tori W, Luke H, Poppy B, Zia C, Ari R and Audrey W.
AUSSIE OF THE MONTH
We also awarded our Aussie of the Month, which recognises a student who consistently shows kindness to others and makes a positive difference in our school community. Students are nominated by their peers, making this a very special and meaningful acknowledgement.
A huge well done to Shelby B for receiving this award — your kindness and care for others have truly stood out, along with your fantastic leadership. You are always the first to follow instructions, contribute positively to group tasks, and you consistently bring a happy, positive attitude to the classroom.
AUSLAN
SIGNING STAR
Congratulations to our Signing Star, Pippa, for her outstanding effort in Auslan. Pippa has worked extremely hard, stays focused during lessons, and confidently shares her knowledge with the class. Her positive attitude and dedication to learning have been fantastic to see — well done, Pippa!

Sign of the week
This week we will be thinking about important female role models in our lives in the lead up to Mother’s Day. Yet another special event to acknowledge in the Auslan Room as we begin our next unit to build on our knowledge of family.

The sign of the week is Mother/Mum.
SPORTS CORNER
Walk to School Day
Get ready to lace up those shoes and bring some energy to your mornings—because active kids are healthy kids! We’re excited to invite our school community to take part in Walk Safely to School Day, a fun and meaningful way to start the day while building healthy habits.
Join us on Monday 18th May and Thursday 21st May as we walk, skip, and stride our way to school together! Whether you're coming with friends, family, or meeting up along the way, every step counts toward a healthier, happier you.
👨👩👧👦 Safety first! Remember: children under 10 should always hold an adult’s hand when crossing the road. Let’s make it safe and fun.
So, why not swap the car ride for fresh air, smiles, and a little adventure? Let’s show our community how we move—with energy, confidence, and big smiles!
🌟 Let’s get motivated and make every step count!
