Colour Run

The Colour Run is coming to our school on Friday 27 March. This vibrant and energetic event will provide our students with a fun-filled afternoon of colour, laughter, and shared experiences, while also giving our community an opportunity to support our school through fundraising. The Colour Run brings together our collective efforts to make a meaningful and positive impact on our school. We sincerely thank our P&C for identifying this opportunity and for their dedication and hard work in bringing this event to life. If you’re in a position to do so, please click the link below to create your child’s profile page and start their fundraising campaign. https://myprofilepage.com.au/

Parent Teacher Catch Ups and P & C BBQ

A reminder, our P & C BBQ and Parent Teacher Catch Ups are happening this afternoon. Sausages will be available from outside Centre 2. Teachers will be able to have an informal chat from 3.15pm – 4.15pm. As mentioned previously, so that Teachers are free to meet with all parents this afternoon, for longer more formal meetings, please email your teacher to book a time.

Swim Trials

Good luck to our students competing in our Swim Trials on Thursday. This is our qualifying stage before the Interschool Swimming Carnival on Tuesday 24 March. Have fun and do your best!

Hockey Clinics

Thanks so much to Dinah for conducting Hockey Clinics in our school, on behalf of the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association. Team sports are such a great opportunity for children to develop purposeful teamwork skills, have fun and build fitness. We appreciate Dinah coming to our school.

School Assembly

This week we held our first assembly for the year. Well done to our new leaders and faction captains, who did an incredible job on stage running the assembly! We look forward to seeing your confidence grow as the year progresses.

At our assemblies, we also love to celebrate students who have been working hard and putting extra effort into their work. Well done to the following students who received an honours certificate:

Izaiah B., Isabelle H., Lillie G., James H., Theodore F., Lyla S., Patrick B., Saskia T., Henry S.
Romeo V., Grace M., Henley R., Matilda M., Romain W., Harry M., Oliver G., Charlie D and
Alexandria H.

We are so proud of all our students and love hearing about their hard work. These well-deserved honours certificates are a true reflection of their dedication and effort—congratulations to everyone recognized!

AUSSIE OF THE MONTH

We also want to take a moment to put our wonderful Chappy on the stage, who presents the special Aussie of the Month Award. This award celebrates kindness—what better recognition could there be?

Voted by their peers, it truly shows how incredible it is to receive. Well done, Winter! Keep shining with that amazing kindness, friendship and inclusion — you absolutely deserve this award.

Student Services

Protective Behaviours

The Protective Behaviours curriculum is an important part of our school’s commitment to ensuring every child feels safe, confident, and supported. This program teaches students practical skills to recognise unsafe situations, understand their right to feel safe at all times, and identify trusted adults they can turn to for help. Through age-appropriate discussions and activities, students learn about personal boundaries, respectful relationships, body autonomy, and strategies for responding to situations that make them feel uncomfortable.

In Term 1, all classes (except Kindy) will be covering this mandatory component of the curriculum. In primary school, Protective Behaviours is delivered in a sensitive, developmentally appropriate way. Teachers use stories, role-plays, class discussions, and clear safety messages to help students build knowledge and confidence without causing fear or anxiety. Lessons focus on empowerment — helping children understand that they have the right to say “no,” to seek help, and to keep asking for support until they feel safe.

PASLET week 3

Ways We Recognise Students Going Above and Beyond

At Little Grove Primary School, we are proud to continue strengthening our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach, however, there are many things that have been embedded in our school practice for some time. Alongside Groovy Grovers, families may already be familiar with two special acknowledgements: Golden Grovers and Groovy Pearlers.

Golden Grovers are awarded to students who are excelling in one or more of our school expectations — Be Responsible, Show Respect, Be Open to Learning, and Build Resilience. These awards recognise students who demonstrate outstanding effort, perseverance, and commitment to their learning and behaviour. For example, a student who shows determination and resilience to achieve excellent results in Maths or consistently applies themselves to improve in a challenging learning area, may be recognised with a Golden Grover. These awards celebrate students who go above and beyond in demonstrating our school values.

Groovy Pearlers recognise students who display exceptional kindness and care towards others. These awards are given to students who perform special acts that support, include, or uplift their peers or members of our school community. Whether it is helping a classmate who is feeling unsure, showing compassion towards others, or demonstrating genuine thoughtfulness, Groovy Pearlers celebrate the positive impact kindness has on our school environment.

Golden Grovers and Groovy Pearlers are considered more prestigious recognitions than a Groovy Grover and, as such, are awarded less frequently. Each Golden Grover or Groovy Pearler is worth five faction points, making them a significant achievement. Earning one of these awards is something students, and parents, should be particularly proud of, as it highlights exceptional effort, character, and contribution to our school community.

Grip Conference

Student Leaders attend a GRIP conference!

Recently, our student leaders had the opportunity to attend the GRIP Student Leadership Conference, a program designed to equip them with practical skills for their roles as school leaders. The conference focuses on what students can do right now to make a difference, providing a clear vision, hands-on strategies, and plenty of ideas to take back to school.

Here’s what Grace had to say about the experience:

On Monday the 16th, 12 student leaders went to a leadership conference. We learnt so many things to help us improve in leadership.

We learnt not to choose things that are easiest, but to choose what is necessary. We had a couple of games in between sessions, which were really fun. We had a booklet that we filled in as we went. We also watched movie clips to see characters showing empathy, kindness, and other positive traits, so we could recognise them in real people and help when needed.

Finally, it was an AWESOME experience for us leaders to improve at leadership, and I definitely recommend always going to it. - Grace B

We’re excited to see how our leaders put their new skills and ideas into action this year!
