PEAC

On Monday and Tuesday next week, our Year 4 students will participate in PEAC (Primary Extension and Challenge) testing. This assessment helps identify students who may be eligible for PEAC programs in Years 5 and 6. PEAC provides extension and enrichment opportunities for students with exceptional academic potential, encouraging them to think critically, solve complex problems and engage in challenging learning experiences. While the testing takes place at school, the selection process is managed independently by the PEAC Coordinator and Regional Office staff and is a separate program from Little Grove Primary School and its employees. Please note that the testing days have changed from the dates previously communicated (Tuesday and Wednesday). The change has been made to ensure appropriate staffing is available to best support our students throughout the testing process. We wish all participating students the very best and encourage them to simply do their best.

Spelling Bee

On Tuesday, students from Years 3 to 6 will participate in the Little Grove Primary School annual Spelling Bee. The event provides students with an opportunity to showcase their spelling knowledge while building confidence and celebrating academic achievement. From this competition, we will identify students to participate in the Interschool Spelling Bee, which we are hosting at LGPS later in the Term.

Influenza

We have recently had several confirmed cases of influenza within our school community. To help reduce the spread of illness and protect the health of our students and staff, we ask families to please keep children at home if they are unwell or displaying flu-like symptoms, including fever, cough, sore throat or fatigue. Children should return to school once they are well enough to participate in normal school activities. Thank you for your support in helping to keep our school community healthy.

Toys at School

We have recently noticed an increase in the number of toys being brought to school, particularly OOSHIES. Some toys are also being traded between students. While we understand these items are popular, they can become a distraction to learning and may lead to disagreements or misplaced items. 

We have also noticed some students bringing toys from home to use as "fidgets" during class. While a small number of students do have approved sensory tools as part of an individual support plan, based on recommendations from an Occupational Therapist, these supports are provided to meet specific identified needs. Toys brought from home are not appropriate for use as fidgets unless this has been discussed and agreed upon with the school. 

We ask that toys remain at home unless they have been specifically requested by the classroom teacher as part of a learning activity or are an approved support item. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a calm, focused and positive learning environment for all students.

WA Student Assistance Payment

The WA Student Assistance Payment helps parents and carers with cost-of-living pressures associated with sending their children to school. All Western Australian school students with an active enrolment at a public school, non-government school or registered for home education are eligible for the WA Student Assistance Payment. You can claim $250 for each secondary student and $150 for students attending primary school or Kindergarten.

The fastest and most convenient way to claim is through the ServiceWA app. More information on how to claim through the ServiceWA app is available at WA.gov.au/WASAP2026

Claims can also be made via an online form.

All claims must be received by Friday 25 September 2026.

Eligible students must be enrolled in Kindergarten to Year 12 at a Western Australian public school, non-government school or registered for home education and have a valid WA student number (WASN). You can find the WASN on school reports that were sent out last Term.

This week, our behaviour focus is Be Responsible... Be Safe.

We will be encouraging students to think about the importance of making safe and responsible choices, both at school and in the wider community. Whether it's using equipment correctly, playing safely with others, following road safety rules, or looking out for friends and family, every choice we make can help keep ourselves and those around us safe.

By being responsible for our actions and making safety a priority, we can all help create a caring, respectful, and safe environment wherever we are.

Term 3 is always a busy and exciting time, with plenty of opportunities for students to learn, grow and get involved in our school community. One of the highlights of the term is our much-anticipated Faction Athletics Carnival in Week 8, so we're kicking off the excitement with our Faction Poster Competition!

Students of all ages are invited to show off their creativity and faction pride by designing a poster celebrating their faction. Whether they love drawing, painting, collage, digital design or mixed media, this is a fantastic opportunity for every student to get involved and contribute to their team's carnival spirit. Posters should be completed on A4 landscape paper, and students are encouraged to be as creative as they like.

Every poster entered will earn valuable faction points, helping their team on the journey towards carnival success. Better still, three outstanding posters from each faction will be selected as winners, with those students invited to attend a Pizza Party to celebrate their fantastic achievement.

Competition information flyers will be handed out to students this week, with all entries due to the School Office by Friday of Week 4 at 3.00 pm. Please remember that the student must write their full name and year level on the back of their poster before submitting it.

We can't wait to see our students' amazing artwork displayed around the school as we build excitement, teamwork and faction pride in the lead-up to our Athletics Carnival. Good luck to all of our budding artists!

Yay – 100 days down! It's hard to believe how quickly the first 100 days of the school year have flown by.

A huge thank you to all of our students, families and staff for helping us celebrate our 100 Days Brighter day. It was wonderful to see our school bursting with vibrant colours as everyone embraced the celebration with such enthusiasm.

It's fantastic to see our students still so excited about learning, growing and making the most of every opportunity. Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and helped make the day such a bright, happy and memorable celebration. Here's to the next 100 days of learning, laughter and success!

The sign of the week is HELP.

We have been learning about aspects of Deaf culture and building our Deaf awareness. This week we will be looking into Lip reading and what we can do to help communicate with Deaf people.

This term, our focus in Physical Education is preparing for our upcoming Athletics Carnivals in Week 8. It has been wonderful to see our students out on the oval giving everything a go, showing determination, enthusiasm, and a willingness to challenge themselves as they develop their athletics skills.

Don't forget that Fitness Club is still running on Monday and Thursday mornings at 8:30 am. It's a fantastic way to build fitness, improve endurance, and get active with friends. We'd love to see more students come along and watch their fitness grow throughout the term!

A big thank you to Miss McDonald for helping us kick off the term. The students have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about athletics and have made a fantastic start to the term. We can't wait to see everyone's hard work pay off at our Athletics Carnivals!
