As we come to the end of Term 3, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for another fantastic term at Little Grove Primary School. It has been a busy and rewarding term, filled with wonderful learning opportunities, student achievements and community events. Thank you to our staff for their ongoing dedication and commitment to our students, and to our families for your continued support of our school. I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to welcoming you all back for Term 4!

Thank you to our wonderful parent and carer community for taking the time to provide feedback through our recent survey. The purpose of the survey was to involve our community in identifying what matters most to you and to help shape the future direction of Little Grove Primary School. Our Business Plan Action Group, consisting of staff and School Board members/parents, has been meeting regularly to develop our next Business Plan. This week, we met again to review the survey results and consider how your feedback can help guide our priorities moving forward. We would like to share the areas that received the strongest support within our ‘Partnerships’ Focus Area.

It was particularly pleasing to see the strong support for many of the practices and events we already have in place. Your feedback reinforces the importance of continuing to build strong relationships between our school and families, while identifying opportunities to further strengthen our partnerships. Our next step is to explore these areas and consider how they can be incorporated into our Business Plan, ready for implementation in 2027.

Ban On Smart Glasses in Schools

Earlier this week, all Western Australian public schools received communication from the Department of Education regarding a ban on smart glasses in schools. While this has not been an issue at Little Grove Primary School, it is important that our community is aware of this directive. As such, smart glasses are not permitted to be used at LGPS.

To ensure our community is fully informed, I have included the communication from the Department of Education below:

From Term 4 there is a new rule about smart glasses. Smart glasses are banned from school and from events run by our school. This rule is for everyone. What are smart

glasses? Smart glasses have hidden cameras, microphones, or computer screens inside them. Why do we have this rule? We want everyone to feel safe at school. Smart glasses can take photos and videos without anyone knowing. What should you do?

Please do not bring smart glasses to school or school events. Normal reading glasses, sunglasses and prescription glasses are allowed. Thank you for helping us keep our school safe.

2027

Planning for the 2027 school year is now underway. To assist us with class structures, staffing and organisation for next year, we ask that families please let the school know if your child/ren will not be returning to Little Grove Primary School in 2027. Thank you for helping us plan ahead.

It has been a busy week filled with celebrations, rewards, and plenty of opportunities to recognise our students for the fantastic choices they are making each day.

Congratulations to Waitch!
A huge congratulations to Waitch Faction, who have earned the most faction points this term! As a reward for their fantastic efforts, Waitch students enjoyed an extra 15 minutes of play on Wednesday. Well done, Waitch!

Super Draw Winners
A very big congratulations to our Term Super Draw winners: Nicholas, Leni, Isabelle H and Nina! These students were treated to a delicious pancake morning tea on Thursday. They got to cook their own pancakes and enjoy them alongside some of their favourite staff members. It was a wonderful way to celebrate students who consistently demonstrate our Little Grove expectations.

We would also like to acknowledge our Staff Super Draw winner, Tiger Solomon! Miss Solomon is the lucky recipient of a “Groovy Early Getaway” — a special reward allowing them to leave school 30 minutes early on a day of their choice! Don’t worry, all students will be catered for. We hope you enjoy your well-deserved early exit, Tiger!

Feel Good, Free Time Friday
Today, all students who had maintained Good Standing were rewarded with a special “Feel Good, Free Time Friday!” Students negotiated with their teachers how they would like to use their free time, with classes enjoying a range of activities.

It was fabulous to see our students who consistently make positive choices enjoying this special time productively, positively and in harmony with one another.

A huge thank you to our students and staff for making this such a positive and celebratory end to the term. We are incredibly proud of the way our students continue to Be Responsible, Show Respect, Be Open to Learning and Build Resilience.

This Week’s Behaviour Focus: Show Respect: Follow instructions from Staff

This week, we are focusing on showing respect by listening carefully and following instructions from all staff. We can show respect by using kind words, making good choices, being considerate of others and responding positively when asked to do something. By working together and following instructions, we help make our school a safe, happy and respectful place for everyone!

This week’s assembly stars were our fantastic Room 1 students, who wowed us with an incredibly creative game-show-style skit inspired by Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? 🎉

Their questions took us back to their recent excursion aboard the Brig Amity and to Crabapple's Classroom, helping us discover what life was like in the past and how things have changed over time.

But let's be honest… it was the commercial breaks that really stole the show! 😂 From some questionable driving that definitely called for a visit to Specsavers, to a timely reminder that we're not always at our friendliest when we're short on sugar (cue the Snickers ad 🍫), there were plenty of laughs along the way!

A huge well done to all our Room 1 students. Your creativity, confidence and bravery in getting up in front of the whole school and pulling off such a fantastic performance were wonderful to see. You should be very proud of yourselves!

What a wonderful way to finish Term 3! These students have been recognised for their hard work, positive attitude and for going that little bit extra throughout the term.

Even in the final week, they have continued to give their best, showing that their effort and commitment don’t go unnoticed. We are so proud to celebrate each of them and the wonderful example they are setting.

Well done, everyone — what a way to finish Term 3!

This month, our Aussie of the Month was chosen by his fellow students, and there was one student who really stood out above the rest. Mason was recognised for his kindness, compassion and courage, including standing up for someone when it mattered. What a wonderful example of kindness and respect. What a gentleman!

A huge thank you to all of our families who helped us celebrate National Week of Deaf People by sending in bread and fruit for our special Auslan food activities.

Our students had so much fun putting their food signs into action while making and enjoying delicious, healthy snacks together. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect their Auslan learning with a hands-on experience.

A big congratulations to Oliver, our Signing Star of the Month!

Oliver is always eager to learn, respectful of Deaf community and culture, and happy to help others. He is enthusiastic about developing his signing skills and loves sharing his knowledge with those around him. Well done, Oliver! Keep up the fantastic work – we are so proud of you!

It is National Week of Deaf People and here at Little Grove we celebrate by using Auslan to create something we can enjoy eating together. Purposeful practise!  This year Year 1’s are making Fruit Kebabs and Yr 2-6 are making Sandwiches.

This week, we said farewell to Bodhi, who has been a valued part of our school community for the past two years.

Bodhi has been completing his work placement at our school while attending Albany Senior High School. During his time with us, he has supported staff and students across a range of activities and has become a familiar and friendly face around the school.

We have really enjoyed having Bodhi as part of our school community and appreciate all the help and positive attitude he has brought over the past two years.

Although we are saying goodbye for now, Bodhi will be back to help us at our Interschool Carnival next term. You may even spot him around the school or in your child's classroom, as he may return to support us as an Education Assistant (EA).

We wish Bodhi all the very best for the future and hope to see plenty more of him around Little Grove Primary School!

On Monday, our Year 3–6 students participated in Touch Rugby clinics run by Abbey from Touch Football WA, who were in town promoting touch football.

What a great way to finish the term! Students had a fantastic time taking part in a range of fun touch football skills and drills, with lots of enjoyment and enthusiasm throughout the sessions.

It was also lovely to have the Development Officers here to see our students in action. Abbey commented on how well-mannered and respectful our students were, as well as their high level of hand-eye coordination and fast reaction times. It is always wonderful to hear such positive feedback about our students!

Next term, we will continue with some touch football, along with other development officer visits and clinics in cricket, judo and golf for our students.

It has been a very busy term, and with the inconsistent weather, we haven’t been able to run as many Your Move activities as we would have liked. We’re excited to get things back up and running in Term 4!

During Term 4, we will be holding 6 Ride to School Days as part of our Your Move and Bike Month activities:

With only a few more Your Move events left before the end of the year, we’re getting closer to drawing our big raffle again! These events would not be possible without the support of the Wheel to Walk Grant, which provides us with delicious fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as some great prizes for our events.

We can’t wait to see lots of our Little Grove students riding, walking and getting active on the way to school in Term 4!

Bike Education – Rooms 1 & 2

Students in Rooms 1 and 2 will receive two 90-minute Bike Education lessons on the following dates:

We look forward to finishing the year with lots of opportunities for our students to get active, develop their bike skills and enjoy being active on the way to school!

Did you know that Little Grove Primary School is turning 30 next year?!

The P&C will soon start planning the event in October 2027 and we are on the look out for some amazing humans that want to be a part of it.

You don’t need to be a part of the P&C (and no, we won’t be forcing you to join us either!), but you need to be a part of the LGPS school community.

As Term 3 comes to an end, we just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported our P&C this term.

Whether you’ve cooked, baked, volunteered, manned a stall, donated, bought something, helped behind the scenes or simply supported our events — every little bit makes a difference! Our school community is what makes these things possible, and we truly appreciate everyone who chips in and gets involved.
