Assembly
Please note that our Assembly has been moved to Monday 20 October, due to School Photos being the following day. We look forward to seeing you there to help us celebrate some wonderful student success.
Bike Month
October is Bike Month at LGPS so we are encouraging you to ride to school where possible. On Wednesday 22 October a competition is being held for the best designed helmet – use your favourite cartoon character as inspiration and try to use recycled materials. Fruit and muffins will be available from 8.15am.
School Photos
School Photos take place this Tuesday 21 October. A reminder that Family photos are happening from 7.30am and to please bring your forms in on the day.
Kindy Orientation
We held our parent information session for our 2026 Kindy parents on Wednesday morning, with a fantastic turnout of families preparing for next year. A number of parents in attendance were new to the school, which is fantastic to be welcoming more people into our community. Next week, the new Kindy students have the opportunity to visit school and see their classroom in readiness for next year.

Behaviour Focus
This week, we’re focusing on being responsible by showing kindness and friendship to others. Small acts like helping out, using kind words, and including everyone make our school a happier place. Let’s all do our part!

YEAR 6 CAMP
Our Year 6 Quaranup camp was a wonderful success! Over three action-packed days, students displayed outstanding behaviour, enthusiasm, and teamwork. The primary goal — to have fun — was certainly achieved. From the moment we arrived, everyone threw themselves into each activity with energy and excitement. We tackled archery, canoeing, geocaching, orienteering, shelter building, hiking, and even jetty jumping, squeezing an incredible amount into our short stay. The camp was filled with laughter, encouragement, and a genuine sense of adventure. By the end, we were all utterly exhausted but glowing with happiness.

The teachers loved every minute of the experience and felt privileged to spend such quality time with such a fantastic group of students. Their positivity, kindness, and spirit made every moment worthwhile and reminded us why these shared adventures are such an important part of school life. It truly was a camp to remember! Heartfelt thanks to Mr Gatward, Chappy and Mrs Lilly, and all the staff at Camp Quaranup !

Veggie Days were a huge success and a lovely way to end the term. Thank you to all staff for helping make this happen. For the first few weeks of term, we will be exploring the animal world in Auslan. We will start by revising farm animals and using depiction.

The sign of the week is ANIMAL/S.

Term 4 Fitness Club Information
We’re excited to share some updates about Fitness Club for Term 4!
Weeks 3 and 4: There will be no Fitness Club due to our school swimming week.
Weeks 2–7 (Mondays): Fitness Club sessions will be for the Interschool Jumps and Throws team only.
Week 2 (Wednesday): As part of our Your Move program, funded by a Bike Month grant secured by our P&C, we’ll be hosting a special Bike Month event from 8:00–8:45am. We’d love for families to get involved!
Pre-Primary (PP) students are welcome to attend Fitness Club on Wednesday for the term, but they must be accompanied by a parent.

Bike Education
Year 3 Bike Education – Pedal Power in Action!
What a fantastic start to Bike Education for our Year 3 students in Rooms 3 and 6! Today was the first of two action-packed 90-minute bike sessions with the sun shining and helmets strapped on.
A huge shout-out to our wonderful P&C students for helping to organise the event as part of Bike Month, and to Jamie for leading the sessions with energy and enthusiasm.
What our students had to say... 🚴♂️🌿
"I liked when we went on the bush track." – Koby
"After school, I want Mum to take me and my bike to Mills Park to practise my bike skills." – Parker
"I liked riding around the bush because my bike is a mountain bike and it went really fast!" – Daphne
"I like riding because the bush track made me feel like I was riding around at home." – Eleanor
"I liked riding my bike on the cross-country track because it was an adventure!" – Austin

Room 6 Leads the Way in Whole School Hands-Up Travel Survey today! As part of our whole school Hands-Up Travel Survey, Room 6 had the highest number of students ride their bikes to school — an impressive 11 students! We also had 1 student travel by bus, and 9 students arrive by car. A big thank you to all the parents who helped organise bikes to be brought to school, we really appreciate your support in this. Our next bike session will be on Tuesday, 21st October from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
As this is also School Photo Day, Room 3 and Room 6 will have their class photos taken before recess to make sure everyone is ready to ride afterward.
INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS
Interschool Athletics Carnival Information– Week 7
The Interschool Athletics Carnival will be held in Week 7 over two days for selected students:
Tuesday 25 November – Years 4–6 at Spencer Park Primary School
Thursday 27 November – Years 1–6 in Denmark
Our Jumps and Throws Team consists of the top-performing students from Years 4–6, based on results from our Jumps and Throws Carnival held earlier this year.
Students who placed 1st will compete in A Division, and those who placed 2nd will compete in B Division.
· Congratulations to the Following Students!
o Year 4
Girls: Macey, Luna, Lillian, Leila-Paige
Boys: Oscar, Beau, Archie, Bodhi
o Year 5
Girls: Jade, Isla, Scarlett, Libby
Boys: Ben, Oliver, Stormy
o Year 6
Girls: Lara, Isla-May, Ava, Josie, Skye
Boys: Darcy, Mason, Cruze, Elliot, Tristan, Jed
For the Thursday carnival, our team includes:
A Junior Team (Years 1–3)
A Senior Team (Years 4–6)
Students who placed 1st or 2nd in track events such as the 70m, 100m, 200m, 300m, and 400m will represent LGPS. There will also be year-level team games (e.g., Year 1 Boys and Year 1 Girls), made up of 6–8 of our strongest athletes.
As this is an interschool event, we need to take our best-performing team to represent LGPS against larger schools. Unfortunately, this means that some students will miss out on selection this year. We appreciate your understanding and continued encouragement for all our students to stay active and do their best.
This term, Mrs Meaton will be taking the Junior students on Thursday afternoons, and Mr Gatward will be working with the Senior team on Friday afternoons for team game practice to refine their skills.
The final Interschool Team list will be posted at the end of the week in the undercover area.

Design your helmet inspired by your favourite cartoon character – from superheroes to silly sidekicks!

♻️ The Twist:
Use recycled materials where you can – the more creative, the better!
