Welcome Back to Term 3!
It has been wonderful to have the giggles, cheers and smiles back on our school grounds this week as we welcomed everyone back for another exciting term.
We have a fantastic term ahead with plenty to look forward to! Our Athletics preparations will be kicking off, PEAC testing is coming up, there will be some AFL fun along the way, and of course, we will be celebrating a very special milestone — 100 Days of School for 2026! Woohoo!
There is so much to enjoy, learn and celebrate, and we can’t wait to see all the wonderful things this term has in store for our students, staff and families. Welcome back — let’s make it a great one!
WA Student Assistance Payment
The WA Student Assistance Payment helps parents and carers with cost-of-living pressures associated with sending their children to school. All Western Australian school students with an active enrolment at a public school, non-government school or registered for home education are eligible for the WA Student Assistance Payment. You can claim $250 for each secondary student and $150 for students attending primary school or Kindergarten.
The fastest and most convenient way to claim is through the ServiceWA app. More information on how to claim through the ServiceWA app is available at WA.gov.au/WASAP2026 . Claims can also be made via an online form.

All claims must be received by Friday 25 September 2026.
Eligible students must be enrolled in Kindergarten to Year 12 at a Western Australian public school, non-government school or registered for home education and have a valid WA student number (WASN). You can find the WASN on school reports that were sent out last Term.
VacSwim
Enrolments for the October and summer school holiday programs are now open. Spots are limited and enrolments will close earlier at venues that are fully booked. Enrol now to secure your child’s place! Enrol in VacSwim - Department of Education
Kindergarten Enrolments 2027
We are now getting close to our Kindergarten enrolment window closing. Applications can still be made via our forms in the front office, or by visiting Enrolment - Little Grove Primary School
During August, we will make contact with all families about their application and next steps.

Behaviour Focus

This Week’s Behaviour Focus: Active Listening
This week we are focusing on the important skill of active listening. Active listening means giving our full attention to the person speaking, showing that we are engaged, and taking the time to understand what is being shared.
Whether we are in the classroom, during assemblies, working with others, or having conversations throughout the day, active listening helps us show respect, build stronger relationships, and learn from one another.
We encourage all students to practise being great listeners by looking towards the speaker, staying focused, waiting their turn to speak, and responding thoughtfully. Small actions can make a big difference in creating a positive and respectful school environment.

Prime Ministers Spelling Bee
The Prime Minister's Spelling Bee is a national competition for children from years 3-6 that celebrates and encourages students' spelling skills while building confidence and a love of language. Students begin by competing in school-based rounds, with successful participants progressing through regional and state levels for the opportunity to reach the national finals. The ultimate winner is flown to Canberra! The competition challenges students to expand their vocabulary, improve their spelling accuracy, and develop resilience as they tackle increasingly complex words. We are proud of all students who choose to participate and wish them the very best as they represent our school.

If your child is keen to participate and has not yet returned a permission slip, please contact the school office.
Students taking part in the Spelling Bee will be given 30 random words from their reading level word list. They have 25 seconds to spell each word. They may not be familiar with all the words they are asked to spell. However, exposing students to new words and their definitions will help expand their vocabularies and encourage them to continue reading.
Kindy Buddy Reading
Here at Little Grove Primary School, our awesome Year 6 students had the special opportunity to read to our precious Kindy students.
Each Year 6 student chose one of their favourite books before heading over to the Kindy classrooms. We were paired up and soon the Kindy students' little imaginations came to life as our Year 6s turned the pages and shared their stories.
To finish off this wonderful experience, we held our Kindy buddies' little hands and walked them back to their classroom before gathering together for a group photo. It was a lovely morning full of smiles, stories, and new friendships!

100 Days Brighter
100 DAYS BRIGHTER!
Can you believe we’ve already reached 100 days of school? Sooo… on Monday 27th July, we are going to celebrate!
To celebrate this amazing milestone, we’re inviting students to dress up and join in the fun as we celebrate 100 Days Brighter!
It’s a chance to celebrate all the learning, friendships, challenges and wonderful moments that have made our first 100 days so special.
So, get creative, have some fun and help us make our 100th day of school shine bright!

SPORTS CORNER
This terms focus
This term our focus will turn towards Athletics as we prepare for our school carnival in Week 8. It is always a fantastic day filled with fun, encouragement and plenty of excitement as we watch our students get involved, have a go and celebrate their achievements.
Alongside our athletics preparation, Fitness Club will continue every Monday and Thursday morning. Come on down to the oval from 8:30am and see how many laps you can complete! It’s a wonderful way to start the day, get moving, and enjoy some fresh air before the school day begins.
Parents and carers are more than welcome to join in too — we would love to see you there!
