Principal’s Address

Welcome back to Term 3!

It has been an excellent start to the Term with students displaying excellent behaviour and listening to expectations – particularly during some wet and wild recess and lunch breaks. Already I have been seeing some amazing work coming out of classrooms, with students easing straight back into school routines.

Welcome Back!

On a personal note, a huge thank you to students, staff and parents for making me feel very welcome this week, it has been great to meet a lot of people. If you see me around the school, please come and say hi, I would love to have a chat to you!

Regards

Mr James Baker

Principal

Admin - Mrs Lilly has a word

You will have read on Compass that Ms Pedretti has stepped out of her role at Little Grove for the rest of the year to take up a short-term opportunity with the Department of Education in Perth. Ms Pedretti said that this is a great opportunity, that should help her become an even better Associate Principal for Little Grove when she comes back for the start of 2026! She has asked me to step in and take over the Assistant Principal role while she is away. I have been working alongside Ms Pedretti since she started here, and especially this year in the full-time student services role and am really excited to have been given this opportunity to work alongside staff and students to help our kids here at Little Grove.

I am very much looking forward to supporting Mr Baker in leading teaching, learning, and school operations. I will continue to monitor student progress, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment for all our students. I am keenly aware of the importance of fostering positive relationships among students, staff, and families, and hope to use my values including integrity, empathy, resilience and collaboration, to ensure student wellbeing and achievement.

I thank you for your ongoing support and communication and encourage you to seek me out to help make this year a really exciting and positive experience for your child.

We have a really busy term planned, with athletics, some fun incursions, a couple of spelling competitions as well as the usual daily classroom fun and learning experiences.

The Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee

We are keen for all of our Year 3-6 children to join the online Prime Minister's Spelling Bee! All we need from you is approval for your child to take part. Please complete the approval on Compass.

Students taking part in the Spelling Bee will be given 30 random words from their class level word list. They have 25 seconds to spell each word. Students may not be familiar with all the words they are asked to spell. However, exposing students to new words and their definitions will help expand their vocabularies and encourage them to continue reading. Learning through play is always a winning formula. The Spelling Bee allows students to practise spelling words in a fun format where they have to aim for accuracy, to beat the clock and finish ahead of their fellow students right across Australia. There are great prizes on offer as well as individual recognition as best speller in your year group and in the school!

Little Grove Golden Artist

Have you been into our office lately? Pop on in and take a look at our amazing little artist’s work. This month Erica is making her mark in the office with a beautifully colourful rendition of a Sandra Silzberweig piece.

Silberzweig is a self-taught painter and writer of rhythmic poetry. Sandra Silberzweig is the Creator of the Silbersenze Method. She created a series of guided art lessons that include tips tricks and techniques that enhance sensory stimulation and awareness through art. They are based on her own evolving artistic experiences and she proudly calls this, The Silbersenze Method.

Well done to Erica for her amazing work, it brightens our office beautifully!
